Chapter 41 - Ino's Property Became Lynn’s!

Chapter 41. Ino’s Property Became Lynn’s! This Time He Made a Profit!

Once Lynn finished his speech, the civilians were shocked speechless for a second. They had never seen a Lord such as Lynn but once they understood his words, they felt that he would not leave them behind. Lynn did not intend on killing them or robbing them of their property. So, the civilians knelt down one by one to show their appreciation. The nobles looked at Lynn with a small amount of envy as only a few nobles could make their civilians respect them so sincerely.

“My legion will help you clean up the rubble,” Lynn said. “If your house is seriously damaged, you can come to me for partial compensation.”

The civilians became more grateful than before as all the other nobles had a different approach for such tasks.

“Why would he treat the civilians so well? They cannot resist.”

“Even if he made them deal with the damages, they would not say anything in refusal. Lynn is stupid and wastes his money.”

“What do you know? How much money can a house be worth? Lord Lynn could spend ten gold coins just to gain the trust of his people. He is in fact quite smart!”

The nobles were discussing the issue when Theresa stepped forward towards Lynn.

“Congratulations on your second territory. This is your reward for your victory in the war. I will sign the document within ten days and report the change of territory to Terju, Marquise Lynn.”

“I am deeply grateful,” Lynn said, and then blinked to hint his appreciation for the heavy armor.

Theresa calmly turned her head instead of looking Lynn in the eyes.

“You are not proficient in war. You have to hurry and occupy the castle at this time. If you do not, someone else will seize it. It is your reward, after all.”

“The half beast warriors have already defended the castle,” Lynn said with a smile. “Do not worry, Theresa. I never get confused when it comes to valuables.”

“That is good. You will take care of the rest of the business. I will go talk to the merchants about S… No, it is Maple Leaf City now. I will maintain the business dealings with Maple Leaf City.”

Lynn once again expressed his gratitude, and Theresa turned and left. She wanted to talk to Lucy. The nobles also gradually left, so Lynn went to the Sla family’s castle. The building was much grander than Lynn’s, as it had three floors that covered a greater area. There was also a garden in front of the castle.

After entering the castle, Lynn saw that the floor was lit by a warm yellow light. This was the magic crystal lamp that Lucy liked. Inside the lamp was a magic circle that would respond to fifty mana points, which would keep the light going for a week.

“Take it away,” Lynn said as he waved his hand.

The lamp was taken down to be transported to Lynn’s castle. The table was also sturdy and of good quality, as was the kitchenware. He ordered them all to be taken. The books, gems, and vases were also exceptional, so Lynn had all the things that were of quality taken away until nothing was left. Everything here was Lynn’s anyways.

As he ascended to the third floor, Lynn became more excited. This area should be Ino’s study and bedroom. Lynn pushed open the door and found another crystal lamp inside. The quantity he found in this castle would allow Lynn’s bedroom, hall, and study to have one. This was suitable. Ino’s preparations for Lynn was really thoughtful.

Under the bed, Lynn found a large box that was carved with beautiful patterns. Sealing it shut were two locks, and the box felt heavy. Lynn became excited as it probably contained Ino’s gold coins. Once he opened the box, Lynn became disappointed. Most of it was silver coins! Lynn thought from the weight of the box that there were at least five hundred gold coins, but the weight came from the silver coins. “This is too poor.”

Lynn was a little disgusted and started counting the coins. A total of 601 silver and 50 gold coins were counted, which came up to about 110 gold. Lynn was satisfied even with this small amount because of all of the different items Lynn took. The magic related things were expensive, and if he was willing to sell them it should be worth thousands of gold coins.

The bounty was magnificent, so Lynn collected the gold coins. Yet, he felt that something was wrong with the box. After taking all of the gold coins, the weight of the box changed very little. Wooden boxes cannot be so heavy, right?

Lynn understood instantly that there was still something left. He inspected the box and found a mechanism at the bottom. He pressed the button and heard a satisfying click, and then turned the box over once more. As expected, there was a hidden layer underneath the false bottom.  Lynn pushed aside the dark panel, when suddenly a burst of red smoke erupted from the box. Fortunately, Lynn had been alert and quickly ducked under the bed.

“It is a good thing that Ino had set up a mechanism to prevent theft.”

Lynn waited until the smoke cleared, and then stepped forward. By the box, Lynn saw a sword measuring about one meter. Compared to the heavy swords used by the half beast warriors this instead resembled a fruit knife, but Lynn was still excited since he saw a red gem on the hilt. The shape of the sword was also shaped similar to the magical equipment used by high level magicians.

Lynn confirmed there were no more traps before picking up the sword. From the very start Lynn noticed that it was light. Then, the red gem suddenly bursted into light, and Lynn felt that his mana control became smoother when he imbued mana into the sword.

Lynn drew the sword, and noted that the process to forge the sword’s body was excellent. It had a strength to it and lacked any impurities, and there were also magic runes carved into it. Lynn excitedly put the sword away and had it taken away.

I really made a profit this time! It is a magic tool! Magic equipment could directly increase the lethality of a magician, since using one would allow at least one fourth times more power with the same amount of mana. Lynn also wanted a magic tool before, but they were priceless on the market. Many people wanted them, but few would sell such items.

Lynn felt that one he became earl, at least, he would have had a chance to get some magical equipment. Who could have thought of it? Ino had prepared such a gift for Lynn!  It also was a tool whose gemstone matched Lynn’s fire attribute. Lynn had chanced upon a magnificent sword that he favored.

Lynn became a little embarrassed. Ino was so kind! Lynn quickly had the sword taken to be sent to his household. Once all of the magic equipment was collected and he confirmed that there were no other goods in the bedroom, he went straight to the study on the third floor. There were probably more pleasant surprises in that room as well.
