Chapter 44. System Points Soared to 1600 a Day!

One the first batch of supplies was sent away, Lynn decided to check the accounting records from the past Lord of the city. Maple Leaf City’s market was a treasure trove for gold. According to Ino’s records, he would earn about two hundred gold coins every month, and now the revenue would be sent to Lynn since he was the new Lord. However, the merchants may have become scrupulous due to the effect war had on people.

Lynn was ready for the income of the city to fall, but even if it was halved he would be gaining one hundred gold coins per month anyways. That was enough for him to raise an additional one hundred half beast warriors. Lynn called his attendants to him. He decided to have Rau stay behind to govern the city since he was a loyal follower who has been with Lynn since he left the Kyles. Rau also showed his wisdom in the battle which made him a decent choice. Buno would have been the better choice with his management skills, but Lynn needed his assistance in constructing Fenglin Village. “I will leave behind fifty warriors. They will help you with cleaning up the corpses, collecting armor and weapons, and rebuilding the walls,” Lynn explained. “When the magic book is sold, I will send over two hundred gold coins plus the money from the sales of the enemies’ equipment. Use the funds to repair the walls and purchase supplies for the half beasts.”

“After that,” continues Lynn, “the income from the city will be used to raise the warriors. Make an account and write down the income and expenditures, You may take five gold coins every month as payment. Understand?”

Rau knelt before Lynn for the graciousness presented before him.

“Thank you for your trust, Lord Lynn. I will obey your orders and shall watch over the city in your stead.”

Lynn nodded in satisfaction before turning around to give orders to the half beast warriors. The city barracks were in excellent conditions. There were plenty of stone dummies and such equipment for training troops, but sadly all of the armor and weapons were made for human use. Orcs could not use them, which meant they would have to be sold. After preparing everything for his absence from Maple Leaf City, Lynn took Lucy back to Fenglin Village.

The war ended in a rapid manner. It had begun in the morning, and by noon the town was renamed and the castle picked clean. When everything was finished in the city, Lynn and Lucy departed to Fenglin Village when the sun was setting. They had not carried any supplies, so they were able to move rapidly.

The group arrived at the village at midnight the next day, but the slaves that Lynn purchased had not arrived yet. The servants prepared hot water which allowed Lynn and Lucy to take a comfortable bath. After refreshing themselves, they consumed some barbecued meat and fruit for their dinner. Afterwards, they brushed their teeth and went to their rooms to sleep.

Early the next morning, Lynn naturally woke up and heard the System make a chiming sound. Today’s credits were in. 1600 points. Lynn was shocked awake at such a large number, and pondered over the reason as to why it was so high. Understanding dawned on him as he realized that he had one more territory under his control. Maple Leaf City had provided Lynn with additional points.

Lynn now had many points that he could use to expand his legion, and he was ecstatic at this development. His legion had suffered heavy casualties during the war with a loss of ten lives. He had sent a squad of fifty to defend Maple Leaf city, which was nowhere near enough to defend the place. He would need at least two hundred to intimidate anyone desiring to obtain the city.

If he did not have enough points it would have been a major problem, but now his daily reward had increased from five hundred to sixteen hundred points! This immensely relieved the pressure on Lynn.

Lynn stood up and went downstairs. Winter was coming soon, which meant that the time for daylight would be decreasing. Early in the morning the sky was still dark. Lynn walked into the darkness and arrived in front of the beasts’ cage and used all of his points. In an instant, Lynn had acquired seventeen more rank three warriors. He still had seven points left after the ordeal.

The speed at which he could gain half beasts for his legion had more than doubled, but Lynn currently did not have enough beasts to supply his army. Almost all of the Silver Wolves and Tigers had been caught at the base of the mountain, which got Lynn thinking.

”I have to find a merchant to buy some wild beasts. Fortunately, the price of such monsters does not seem to be high. I should be able to buy some powerful ones.”

Different beasts had different fighting abilities once they were evolved. Half wolves were better at running and charging, and in a fight their actions were more flexible. Half tigers were more reckless and had an upper hand when colliding with heavy cavalry. If Lynn wanted to buy some, he wanted more powerful beasts.

An evolved half beast warrior would be stronger, so he would have them go to the barracks to eat something and get ready for work. Lynn brought himself back to his room where he wrote a letter, while he sent someone to bring the magic book to Frost Maple City.

The magician’s Association had a stronghold in the city which would allow for better trading, so Lynn ordered an attendant to ride their best horse and have a rapid trip to and from the stronghold. Lynn had a lot of goods now, but he was lacking in gold coins. Repairing the city walls would require money as the masons had to burn the bricks. The process itself was expensive.

The attendant set off on horseback, so Lynn ate breakfast and went to see his flame mushrooms. The scale of the agriculture had grown to two thousand plants. They were growing well. Lynn was satisfied and grabbed the magic sword he received from the war. He walked towards the Maple Mountain Range in order to test the equipment.

The study of the castle still had a leak, but Lynn did not plan on repairing the castle. Instead, he wanted to build a new one. Fenglin Village had been expanding, so Lynn wanted to change the location of the castle to the middle of the village. However, this would take some time and Lynn did not want to meditate in the rundown study, so he decided to go out to the neighboring forest.

Lynn found a tree and jumped onto a branch. He sat down and felt the fresh air and magic power flowing throughout the forest, and began to meditate.

The magic sword reacted to Lynn’s mana while he was meditating, and a few minutes later Lynn opened his eyes in surprise. Lynn’s knowledge of magic equipment was limited as the books he read had very few records of them. He only knew that his magic power would increase by about twenty five percent through meditation, but right then he discovered that magic tools could also enhance the effect of the act. The result was remarkable!
